Polio
Polio is a highly infectious viral disease that can cause paralysis and death. Immunisation has dramatically reduced the incidence of polio but it still exists in some developing countries.
Notification
Polio is a notifiable disease in NSW and must be reported by phone as soon as possible after diagnosis.
Doctors, Hospitals and laboratories must notify the local Public Health Unit (PHU).
