Health wins Violence Prevention Awards

The NSW health system won three of the 10 Awards at the inaugural 2004 Violence Against Women Prevention Awards held at State Parliament. NSW Health was also involved in interagency groups which won three other awards.

“I would like to congratulate all the participants and finalists in the Awards,” said the Director General of NSW Health, Ms Robyn Kruk.

“The Awards have highlighted the commitment and extraordinary way that staff make the lives of women safer,” Ms Kruk said.

The winners in the two Award Categories are:

Service Provision

  • Education Centre Against Violence in partnership with NSW Health’s Centre for Aboriginal Health; and
  • Wendy Pomeroy – Liverpool Women’s Health Centre.

Prevention Projects

  • Cumberland Women’s Health Service.

“These Awards aim to raise awareness and recognise the outstanding efforts of individual service providers, projects and organisations that work together in the prevention and reduction of violence against women in NSW,” Ms Kruk said.
