06 November 2006 Tenderer announced for Narrabri Health Service planning
NSW Minister for Health John Hatzistergos today announced the appointment of the successful Project Director Planning for the redevelopment of the Narrabri District Health Service. The role will include the completion of planning for the health needs of the community and the health facilities needed to deliver this care, outlining a clear plan for the future health needs of the Narrabri community. Mr Hatzistergos said the successful tenderer, Lindsay Kelly & Associates, a Wagga Wagga-based consultancy firm, would be responsible for the development of the plans, which would assess community requirements and demographic statistics to determine the clinical needs and health facilities. "Lindsay Kelly & Associates will work with Hunter New England Health to effectively consult with and engage local clinicians and the local health advisory committee in the planning process," Mr Hatzistergos said. "The documentation will include a Clinical Services Plan, addressing the health needs of the community and a Service Procurement / Project Definition Plan, to determine and define the facilities that are required, including the operational logistics. "The process will make sure that the people of Narrabri are positioned to get the health services they need for their local community. "We are working to secure the long-term future sustainability and access to community health services in the Mehi region," he said. Mr Hatzistergos announced funding to undertake and complete consultation for a new hospital during a visit to Narrabri District Health Service in August. The project is a high priority within the 10-year forward capital plan. "The development of this health service is part of the Iemma Government's commitment to rural and regional NSW," Mr Hatzistergos said. Lindsay Kelly & Associates will begin planning meetings in Narrabri on 6 November with the planning proposal due for submission by mid 2007.
