Barmah Forest Virus Infection

Barmah Forest virus is a germ that can infect people through mosquito bites. Past infection with Barmah Forest virus may have a protective effect against future infection. Barmah Forest virus is related to Ross River virus

Notification

Barmah Forest virus infection is a notifiable disease in NSW and must be reported by phone as soon as possible after diagnosis.
 
Doctors, Hospitals and laboratories must notify the local Public Health Unit (PHU).
 
Select your local PHU  to obtain the correct notification form and notify your local PHU.
